If there was a drink to be had, Roland was there; if there was a piano nearby it would go on till the early hours. He was a proficient snooker player, and an excellent bridge partner to Kieran Cagney, he loved astronomy and could spend hours tinkering with a computer. Roland loved, and was much loved by, his many friends.
